PIECES ONLY - BOARD NOT INCLUDED
The Richard the Lionheart chess set. The famous Couer de Lion Richard the Lionheart was known as such even before his accession, because of his military reputation. At only 16, Richard had his own command, putting down rebellions in Poitou against his father, Henry II. Richard was a central Christian commander during the Third Crusade, effectively leading the campaign after the departure of Philip Augustus, and scoring considerable victories against his Muslim counterpart, Saladin. This chess set depicts the characters, particularly Richard and is outstanding in the level of detail in the pieces.
These chessmen are made out of Polyresin, which is a crushed stone composite. It has the look and feel of stone, but the durability of a plastic. It is truly the best of both worlds.
